Change / Shift explores transformation through rupture rather than gradual progression—the unstable interval in which one configuration has been disrupted and another begins to appear.
Description
Change / Shift investigates transformation at the moment when continuity breaks. Not every change develops gradually. Some transformations occur through thresholds, interruptions, or sudden reorganizations after which the previous state can no longer be fully restored.
The subtitle Discontinuous Becoming is central to the work. Becoming is often imagined as continuous evolution. Here, becoming also includes rupture. The new does not necessarily grow smoothly from the old; it may appear through a structural discontinuity that changes what can follow.
The Quantum designation functions as a conceptual domain rather than a literal scientific claim. It allows the painting to investigate transitions that resist assumptions of smooth causality and predictable progression.
The composition can be understood as an event-field: trajectories, forces, interruptions, and spatial tensions register a condition no longer identical to what it was, but not yet stabilized into what it will become.
The work occupies precisely this interval: after continuity has been broken and before the emerging state has become fully organized.
